Abstract

The biochemical products of the 5-, 12-, and 15-lipoxygenases include numerous molecular forms: the various HPETEs; mono-, di- and trihydroxy HETEs; leukotrienes A4, B4, C4, D4' and E4; and the lipoxins. The origin and biochemical conversions of these compounds are described in Chapter 1. Other less well defined metabolites are products of autooxidiation or of the cytochrome P-450 system, but their biochemical functions are less well established.
