Abstract
Recording performance of laminated antiferromagnetically coupled (LAC) media with two and three magnetic layers was investigated using a spinstand. Comparison was made with the recording performance of conventional single layered (SL) media. Thermal stability of LAC media was found to be higher than that of SL media. Overwrite degradation was observed when the total thickness of the laminated structure increased beyond certain limits.
