Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems have made significant impact on the society in the recent years in a wide range of fields, including healthcare, transportation, and finances. In healthcare, AI systems are used to diag-nose diseases and develop new medicine. Autonomous vehicles based on AI solutions are developed to revolutionize transportation. These advances have been driven by the development of deep learning algorithms, the avail-ability of large amounts of data, and new designs of powerful computing hardware. This chapter will explore the milestone methods and algorithms in deep learning, as well as the different hardware designs that can be used to accelerate these algorithms.
