Abstract

Not only the hitherto simplest alkylosmium oxide, Me4OsO, which is stable in the gas phase, and whose structure (figure on the right) can elucidated by electron diffraction analysis, but also the thermolabile Et4OsO and a mixed alkylated derivative could be prepared good yields. In addition, the structurally novel trimer [{(py)OsO2Me2}3] with planar Os3O3 six‐membered ring is reported. (Figure Presented.)
