N2 - Neural imaging especially during activity has been the focus of significant research. A number of invasive and non-invasive optical methods have been implemented to observe neural structure and functional changes associated with action potential propagation. Depth-resolved optical methods that work with backscattered light are particularly important because of non-invasive nature of applications. Optical coherence tomography produces high-resolution cross-sectional images of tissue microstructures using backscattered light, and allows non-invasive or minimally invasive applications.
