Abstract
A new material system is proposed to serve as a host for praseodymium dopant ions in planar and channel waveguide devices, which include waveguide lasers, superluminescent light sources, and waveguide amplifiers. Light emission and amplification was reported in praseodymium/ytterbium codoped ZrO2 films pumped at 975 nm.
