Abstract
A study was conducted to investigate coupled boundary layers air-sea transfer (CBLAST) at small scales. The study estimates the dynamics of atmosphere-ocean-wave interactions by performing direct numerical simulations (DNS) and large-eddy simulations (LES) for both the air and ocean turbulent flows with coupled free-surface boundary conditions. Simulations of a coupled air-water turbulent Couette flow show that the interface acts like a solid wall to the air motions. The results of the study are efficient in developing efficacious turbulence modeling of air-sea wave boundary layers.
