Abstract
In this paper, reduced switch-count topologies for ac-ac link based power-electronic-transformer (PET) are proposed. The new topologies are as follows: a) three-phase PET with primary windings in switching-star orientation and b) three-phase PET transformer with primary windings in switching-delta orientation. Matrix converter is used on the secondary side of the PET which demodulates the high frequency voltage to a voltage of desired amplitude and frequency. The input power factor control, output voltage control and elimination of the common-mode voltage are achieved simultaneously. Abovementioned topologies are compared with yet another reduced switch-count three-phase PET topology with switched multi-winding primary. Simulation results of a 2 MVA system are presented.
