N2 - In this paper, a quarter-car suspension system with a hydraulic actuator, acting under the effects of coulomb friction, is examined. Nonlinear control laws will be developed and compared with both a passive system and a system acting under linear control. An observer-based nonlinear controller and an adaptive nonlinear controller will also be presented. Experimental results will be compared with both theoretical and simulation results.
