NONINVASIVE METHODS IN CARDIOLOGY 2024

Abstract

The book “Noninvasive Methods in Cardiology 2024” includes the results of a close collaboration between Masaryk University and the University of Minnesota. The editors and authors present the results of chronobiology and blood pressure variability in healthy individuals and patients with hypertension and ischemic heart disease. The results were presented at a meeting at Masaryk University in Brno. The variability of the night-to-day ratio specified from 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring is very large over seven days in an individual subject. The reliability of the ambulatory arterial stiffness index, calculated from ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) records, has been found to accurately reflect arterial stiffness in population studies, but the large uncertainty associated with its determination may limit its use for the treatment of individual patients. Prof. Y. Watanabe (Japan) contributed new results on blood pressure chronotherapy with nutraceuticals such as Kalahari melon.
