Abstract

In this work, ( eta **5-vinylcyclopentadienyl)tricarbonyl-manganese, ( eta **5-vinylcyclopentadienyl)dicarbonylnitrosylchromium,and 3-vinylbisfulvalenediiron were prepared. In each case, the synthetic route involved Friedel-Crafts acylation of the Cp-metal complex followed by hydride reduction of the acetyl carbonyl function to an alcohol, and dehydration. Polymerization studies of these monomers under free-radical of cationic initiation conditions are being studied and some results are discussed.
