Abstract
A new method of determining the phase diagram of metamagnets has been developed and applied to the tricritical region of FeCl2. The specific heat, measured by an ac method, shows discontinuities at the phase boundaries. The phase boundaries in the applied field-temperature plane, the critical exponent βu, and the specific heat along the mixed-phase boundaries have been determined.
