Abstract

The viewpoint of the paper is that the new framework of forest management is affected by the new age. The new age poses many impacts on traditional forest management. The sustainability is expanded in the meaning of all functions and factors of forest ecosystem. Forest management is integrated into a wider background of land and natural resources than before. All members of the society become beneficiaries of forest management. Spatial pattern of landscape becomes a new scale. Modern technologies should be applied in each aspect of the utilization of forest resources. Some new concepts like multi-function, landscape pattern, participation pattern, certification, adaptive management, standards and guidelines to sustainable management and ecosystem approach call for the combination of forestry and modern technologies. The establishment of forest layout should meet the social needs. All those above aspects form the new framework of forest management.
