Eddy correlation flux measurements of carbon dioxide of three Boreal forests during a drought were carried out. The annual mean air temperature of the three sites was 0.4°C and the annual precipitation 467 mm, most of its is normally received during the summer months in the form of rain. The low soil water content during the first drought year significantly decreased ecosystem respiration at the decidous aspen site. It resulted in second highest annual carbon sequestration in the nine years of flux monitoring.
