Abstract
Helping Babies Breathe (HBB) is a neonatal resuscitation program designed for resource-constrained settings. It was created by the American Academy of Pediatrics and partners. HBB was designed to be an accessible, evidence based, education intervention for any birth attendant or healthcare provider regardless of prior educational level. When implemented in resource-constrained settings, HBB has been shown to decrease mortality related to perinatal events. As part of the HBB educational package, there is master trainer training, educational advice on workshop planning, and sustainability of education and clinical outcomes through quality improvement and ongoing practice. This chapter is an overview of HBB concepts and training as well as a review of beyond HBB resuscitation basics.
