Abstract
Numerical studies are reported for steady state natural convection in two-dimensional layered porous media partially heated from below. An emphasis is placed on the effects caused by the sublayer thickness ratio and permeability contrast in a system comprising two sublayers. Heat transfer results including streamline and isotherm patterns, local Nusselt numbers on the heated surface, overall Nusselt number, and the Nusselt versus Rayleigh number relation in terms of the sublayer thickness ratio and permeability ratio.
