Abstract

Nanoparticle research has significant potential for scientific breakthrough and new technological innovations as a new frontier in particle and aerosol research. Nanoparticle applications are outlined in several scientific disciplines which covers a broad spectrum from the production of nanophase materials with superior properties to studies of human exposure by inhalation of nanometer particles. A special issue of the Journal of Aerosol Science is proposed which will draw together current knowledge on these subjects and describe the state-of-the-art research, providing a platform for future exploration.
