Abstract

The structure of simple aluminosilicate anions formed by the reaction of silicate and aluminate anions was investigated by 29Si and 27Al NMR spectroscopy. The extent of aluminosilicate formation was found to increase with increasing silicate ratio and increasing cation size. The first of these trends is attributed to the redistribution of Si with increasing silicate ratio to more acidic anions. The second trend is attributed to the formation of cation-anion pairs.
