Abstract

The static color-singlet potential between two color changes in high temperature gluon plasma is normally thought to be of the Debye screening form. We show that the momentum dependence of the gluon self-energy modifies the screening potential substantially. This may have implications for charmonium suppression as a signal for quark-gluon plasma formation in ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions.
