Abstract

Two modelling areas with enormous potential for forestry applications are reviewed: forest management planning models and forest growth projection models. The 'allowable cut' problem is used both to show how these model types are used in combination and to highlight how management concepts have changed as more is learned about the complexities inherent in forest management situations.
