Abstract

THE SINGULARLY PERTURBED INITIAL VALUE PROBLEM DESCRIBED BYA SECOND-ORDER LINEAR DIFFERENCE EQUATION ARISING IN DISCRETE SYSTEMS IS CONSIDERED. A PERTURBATION METHOD IS DEVELOPEDTO OBTAIN AN APPROXIMATE SOLUTION. SEVERAL CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES OF SINGULAR PERTURBATIONS ARE EXPOSED. THE ANALYSIS JUSTIFIES THE PROPOSED METHOD. AN EXAMPLE IS GIVEN TO ILLUSTRATE THE METHOD.
