N2 - During the past decade, research on urinary incontinence and its management has grown significantly. Behavioral therapy is now viewed as an important first line of treatment for stress, urge, and mixed urinary incontinence. This chapter provides a critical review of the intervention studies on lifestyle modifications, bladder training, and pelvic floor muscle training conducted in adult ambulatory care populations that were published in 1988 through 1999. Recommendations for future research are provided.
