Abstract
The proper diagnosis and management of renal colic can be a challenging task even for the most astute clinician. While the classic cause of renal colic is an obstructing ureteral stone, there is a wide variety of potential causes as well as an array of clinical presentations. In this chapter we will explore the pathophysiology of renal colic and review the most current diagnostic and medical treatment options for this condition.
