Abstract

Otolaryngology is an ever-changing practice. Staying abreast with societal recommendations while providing technologically current treatment paradigms remains a cornerstone of up-to-date patient care. This chapter reflects on the role of the otolaryngologist in the outpatient setting and details prior knowledge as it pertains to litigious inquiry. The hope of the authors is to provide objective data and clinical pearls useful while avoiding the courtroom. No knowledge outweighs the dynamic role of a practitioner patient relationship, but this chapter helps to fill gaps of knowledge regarding liability and litigation.
