Making connections between global magnetospheric models and simulations of microscopic plasma processes

Magnetospheric phenomena occur over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales and include a wide variety of physical processes, making the construction of a comprehensive magnetospheric model very difficult if not impossible. This paper will outline some of the problems involved in constructing such models and some potential paths for their solution. An attainable goal of attempting to meld together various types of models will be described, along with some early efforts along these lines.
