Abstract
For transmission lines modeled as the series combination of an infinite number of (lossy) RLC circuits (each modeling an infinitesimally short segment), the ubiquitous Π-equivalent-circuit lumped-parameter model in sinusoidal steady state is typically derived by manipulating Telegrapher's equations. We present an alternate analytical approach that leverages Kron reduction to eliminate all but terminal nodes from the originating network of series-connected two-port segments.
