Abstract
Whereas proving that a Lucas sequence contains infinitely many primes is a difficult problem, there are many Lucas sequences that contain no primes or finitely many primes. We give two families of Lucas sequences containing only finitely many primes. We conjecture that all other Lucas sequences without obvious obstructions contain infinitely many primes.
