Abstract
The optimal epilepsy management device requires: Automated seizure detection, accurate automated electronic seizure diaries, seizure forecasting, active brain probing to track brain state, and automated brain stimulation therapy adjustment that can respond in a control law approach to seizure probability to prevent seizures. In this session, we want to describe and demonstrate an epilepsy management and therapy platform using Medtronic's investigational Activa RC+S Research System implanted in living canines with epilepsy. The investigational Activa RC+S provides chronic nervous system sensing and analytics using embedded scientific instrumentation and continuous iEEG telemetry, which can be communicated to a handheld device, providing a unique opportunity for exploring and managing epileptic neural networks.
