A method for producing liquid hyperpolarized 129Xe using spin-exchange optical pumping (SEOP) and phase exchange in a convection cell was discussed. The transfer of magnetization between the gas and liquid phases was made possible by the convection loop inside the sealed glass cell. A substantial quantity of highly polarized 129Xe gas could be produced by rapid volatilization of the liquid. A number of optimization of the method were also presented, such as improving the gas polarization with a more powerful laser and by optimizing SEOP temperature, the optics train and laser alignment.
