Abstract

Corncob powder was liquefied in a high pressure reactor. The composition of the gas and liquid phases produced were analyzed. It was found that the yield of gas phase increased while the yields of solid and liquid phase decreased with increasing temperature. The gas phase was 2.5 -7.7% (wt%), the liquid phase 87.8 - 95.5% (wt%), and solid phase 1.56 - 4.7% (wt%) at 300 -375°C. The gas phase consisted of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, alkane, and olefin. The liquid phase consisted of phenols, furanmethanol, and related derived compounds.
