Abstract
An increasing number of NPs are specializing in the management of incontinent patients. These continence nurse specialists may be involved in collaborative practice arrangements with physicians or have their own independent practices. They practice in a variety of settings from home and ambulatory care to acute and long-term institutional care. This article describes the comprehensive assessment and management of urinary incontinence that may be provided by a continence nurse specialist.
