Abstract
Mean left atrial pressure during supine submaximal exercise was studied in seven hemodynamic normal individuals. A rapid increase in pressure to a maximum at the second to fourth minute of exercise followed by a slow decline to levels near or below those of rest conditions was noted in all individuals. A possible mechanism relating left ventricular exercise response to left atrial pressure is discussed.
