Abstract
The lateral confinement effect was demonstrated using image electrons and the model system of C60/Cu(111). Measurements of parallel dispersion indicate that the n=1 image state is effectively localized in the presence of one monolayer of C60 but becomes delocalized when the dipole potential is screened by a second layer of neutral C60 molecules.
