Abstract

A supersonic convergent-divergent round nozzle with inlet turbulence generators and a rough expansion surface is modelled using LES at high NPR and TR. Radiated noise characteristics are validated with previously collected experimental near- and far-field noise data. The study demonstrates the ability of robust LES models to reveal the evolution of internal nozzle flow features and predict associated acoustic characteristics.
