Abstract

LANDRAIN, a revolutionary CAD program for layout and design of subsurface drainage systems, has been developed and is presented. LANDRAIN is one supporting module of LANDIMPROVE, a microcomputer program for terrain modeling and analysis. Utilizing LANDIMPROVE's surface triangulation model, LANDRAIN gives the drainage designer graphical on-screen pipe layout capability. Pipe BURIAL and pipe SIZING are controlled by designer constraints and computed quickly for the entire drainage system. Design tables with material quantities and installation specifications are produced. Design plans can be generated on a plotter to any scale, with 2 and 3-dimensional representational ability. A design problem illustrates these exciting features of LANDRAIN.
