Abstract
We report islet hyperplasia, nesidioblastosis, and abundant islet amyloidosis (derived from islet amyloid polypeptide) in a case of severe insulin resistance due to a circulating antiinsulin receptor antibody. Massive chronic β-cell stimulation (as well as noninsulin-dependent diabetes mellitus and insulinoma) appears to be associated with islet amyloid.
