Introduction: Promoting Sexual Offender Treatment Around the World

Abstract

The authors give an overview of recent research in the field of sexual offender treatment which was presented at the 5th International Conference on the Treatment of Sexual Offenders in 1998 in Caracas, Venezuela. They introduce the recently revised Standards of Care for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders and the formation of a new International Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders. The authors conclude with recommendations for future research in this area.
