Abstract
Carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) is the only available technology that can reduce the emission of CO2 into the atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuels. CCS is a technology that can only be used on stationary sources which accounts for 50% of the total emissions. The other half of the emissions is related to transportation. The reason that we are not yet performing CCS on a large scale is related to its costs. The costs of the CCS process can be reduced significantly if there are breakthroughs in the capture field.
