To the Editor: In a recent issue of the Journal,1 Greenblatt and Shader report their experience with phenytoin addition to 5 per cent dextrose in water for intravenous infusion. We agree entirely that no gross visualization of phenytoin crystals is usually possible when solutions are left standing for eight hours and less. However, to assess the presence of nonvisible crystals in such solutions, the following procedure was undertaken.
