Abstract
This commentary offers reactions to the six articles in this special issue. Themes addressed include clarity in defining faking, the role of theory and empirical research in understanding faking, reasons for studying faking, and methods of operationalizing faking. The various theoretical perspectives taken in this issue are briefly summarized, along with some comments on integrating the perspective. An overall theme is a call not just for understanding faking but for focusing on avenues with a potential link to applicability in operational selection settings.
