Initiatives focusing on transplantation highlight talks at NKF annual meeting.

Over the course of two years, guidelines for the care of the kidney transplant recipient have been developed by KDIGO. The workgroup included physician specialists from nephrology, surgery, pediatrics, infectious disease, as well a nurse coordinator and a patient representative. Virtually all aspects of care unique to kidney transplant recipients were covered in the recommendations. The aim of these guidelines is to improve the care of a kidney transplant recipient in the early and long-term period post transplantation. A presentation on the Guideline for the Care of the Kidney Transplant Recipient will take place March 26.
