Abstract
New services may be needed to support the pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care. However, these new services rarely become available in a pharmacy without the active involvement of the pharmacy team. When planning new services, consideration should be given to identifying needs, targeting the population, promoting the service, determining training and resource needs, and evaluating the service both for its value and to guide improvements. Patients can provide valuable input into service development through a variety of methods, such as focus groups and surveys.
