Funding Information:Enhancing the impact of biomedi cal research has been recently affirmed by the U.S. National Institutes of Health in its introduction of overall impact as an explicit and emphasized evaluation criterion when selecting meritorious research proposals for funding. It reflects a vision that excellence in research should be considered in the context of its overall impact to the advancement of the field. The newly introduced impact measure in EMBS publications also represents the same vision to further improve EMBS publications and to better serve our members by incorporating impact criteria into the decision process.
