Abstract
We have developed a new method to image brain electrical activity over the cortical surface from scalp-recorded EEGs. A boundary element model of the scalp, the skull, and the brain was used. The method links the cortical potential field to the scalp potential field in an inhomogeneous volume conductor head model by linear algebra. We have conducted computer simulation studies to test the feasibility of the developed method and validated its applicability to imaging cortical activity using flash stimulated VEPs in a human subject.
