Abstract

This review summarizes general features of iodonium salts and [bis(acyloxy)iodo]arenes as polymerization initiators and promoters. In particular, diaryliodonium salts are widely used in industry as photoinitiators for cationic photopolymerizations. Recent developments in the application of [bis(acyloxy)iodo]arenes and iodosylbenzene/pseudohalide-based initiators for radical polymerization are also presented.
