N2 - A microcomputer program, HYFEAS, has been written in BASIC for use in pre-feasibility assessments of a given site. HYFEAS uses a flow duration curve, headwater and tailwater curves, information on existing and proposed hydroplants, operational constraints, and standardized cost curves to estimate plant capacity, annual energy production during peak and off-peak hours, and equipment and plant cost, at increments of 5 percent on the flow duration curve. The program will also compute benefit-cost ratio and net discounted benefits for public financing if desired. The user chooses the plant capacity for optimum economic return.
