Abstract

Part I of this two part series is used to describe the operational format and the hydrologic component of a design oriented simulation model called SEDIMOT II. SEDIMOT II is capable of evaluating the hydraulic and sediment response of a watershed as well as the sedimentation effectiveness of detention ponds, grass filters, and check dams. In the hydrologic component of SEDIMOT II, the SCS's curve number method is used to determine rainfall excess, unit hydrograph theory is used to calculate a runoff hydrograph, and Muskingum procedure is used for channel routing. The accuracy of the hydrologic component was evaluated for twenty-seven storms.
