Abstract

The unique problems associated with specialty road vehicles were highlighted. Abnormal conditions and misperceptions of other drivers often warrant modifications and alternate interpretations. The panel provided an opportunity for interaction between both panel members and the audience on the issues. A variety of topics were covered, including collision warning, lateral position assistance, lighting, training, instrument cluster design, and in-vehicle information systems. Another primary theme was the enhanced safety for both driver and other motorists.
