Abstract

A case report shows that the current gold standard of a (single) 24-hour blood pressure (BP) profile is not necessarily sufficient for detecting the representative BP state on days other than the one monitored. In the case examined, albeit not invariably, a one-week BP profile detected a transient rather than persistent elevation of the circadian BP amplitude (CHAT) which occurred in association with an unusual life event.
