Abstract
In the presentations reviewed above, there is clearly a trend toward using flexible endoscopes to perform procedures that have heretofore been seen as "surgeries." Although it is exciting to see these developments, we should be reminded that new techniques and technologies must be carefully evaluated by well-designed clinical trials before being integrated into general practice, and the drive and incentive for adopting them into our clinical practice should be the results of good science rather than Wall Street hype.
